Dear Parents,
The John Walker Find Your Field of
Dreams Foundation has invited your child’s school to participate in their
Community Swim programme. Established in 2008 Community Swim has provided over 850,000
free swim lessons throughout primary schools in Auckland South. Community Swim
is proudly sponsored by the Lion Foundation, Auckland Council, Potter Masonic
Trust and Water Safety New Zealand.
Your school has elected to
participate in this programme and we welcome your child’s attendance in this
learn to swim initiative. The dates and
times for your child’s lessons will be notified to you by their school.
Your child will be taking part in
swimming lessons with Community Swim. Seven 25-minute learn to swim lessons are
delivered by qualified swimming instructors from the Swimgym swim school. The children are transported to and from
school in special Community Swim buses.
The goal of the Community Swim
Programme is to enable all children to develop the basic life skill of swimming
and to realize the opportunities that await them when the door to the world of
aquatics is opened.
If your child owns a pair of
goggles we recommend they bring these along as this will assist considerably
with their learning to swim.
Swimgym Swim School operates year
round, catering to all swimming abilities, from 6 months through to adults,
beginner to squad level. For more information, find us at www.swimgym.org.nz.
Auckland Council also teach
lessons at Manurewa Leisure Centre 09 269 0930 and Moana-Nui-a-Kiwa, Mangere 09
